Luxembourg-Findel International Airport is the main airport in Luxembourg, located 6 kilometers outside Luxembourg-City. It is Luxembourg’s only international airport and is the only airport in the country with a paved runway. It is served by Luxair, the national airline, which flies to many EU countries (including Milan and London Gatwick and City) and Dublin, and Air France (Paris), KLM (Amsterdam), Swiss (Zurich), Lufthansa (Frankfurt) and British Airways (London Gatwick). Another airline to consider is VLM, often a cheaper option than Luxair. A completely new terminal opened in May 2008. The airport has two terminals and is completely international as there are no other commercial airports in the country. Alternative airports, especially for low-cast carriers, include Ryanair hub Hahn (Frankfurt-Hahn), about two hours away by direct Flibco bus, Zweibrücken Airport and Brussels-South Charleroi. Luxair, Luxembourg’s international airline and Cargolux, a cargo-only airline, are based out of the airport. Bus route 16 connects the airport to the city centre, and there are taxis available at Arrivals. It also has car rental office, where passengers can choose among numerous different types of vehicles for their trip. The airport was recently upgraded and it looks very chic and elegant especially in their waiting areas and boarding gates. There are many restrooms, Wi-Fi connections, bars, cafes and Duty Free shops which carry the latest goods from perfumes, cosmetics, clothes ancohol. Airport also has a bank, bureau de change, a post office and a newsagent. Long and short term parking is available. Baggage and customs clearance is quick. Location wise, it is not so far from the center of the town. As an airport, it is a strategic location because you can get off at this place, rent a car and you are on your way to visit Germany, Belgium, Holland and the south of France.
